Gareth Smith has had a number of professional, clinical and academic roles since starting his career in Audiology in 1998. Gareth is currently the Consultant Clinical Scientist (Audiology) at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Secretary to the British Society of Audiology (BSA). In 2011 Gareth served as the President of the British Academy of Audiology (BAA). Gareth has an interest in paediatric audiology and currently serves as the Chair of the Essex & Addenbrookes Paediatric Audiology Network and has an active paediatric clinical caseload. As Audiology Editor to ENT & Audiology News, Gareth has an international view of Audiology with the magazine distributed in 140 countries. As an Honorary Lecturer at the Ear Institute, UCL, Gareth has delivered lectures and courses on a number of topics including paediatric assessment and habilition, adult diagnostic audiology and service delivery. He continues to regularly contribute to scientific audiology conference programmes. Gareth’s higher education includes a PgCert (Deaf Education- University of Manchester), MSc (Advanced Clinic Practice – University of Essex) and Au.D (Nova Southeastern University, Florida).
